Some Fun and Not so Fun Things I've learned...& 38 WEEKS!

I cannot believe that this is almost over. That positive test I saw on March 5th seems weeks ago, not almost 8 months ago! Overall, I have had an incredibly easy pregnancy which I am grateful for. I will say that this part, at the end, SUCKS. Here are a few things I've learned along the way:

1. I have a little bit of O.C.D - I clean and organize everything at our house
#3
2. When you wake up in the morning after a deep sleep, wait at least an hour before freaking out and slabbing cocoa butter all over the place thinking that your entire stomach is covered in stretch marks.....because really it's the creases from the blankets/pillows you were sleeping on.
3. You will never feel "hot" or "sexy" effective almost immediately
4. People will tell you their parenting opinions on everything...smile and nod
5. EVERY pregnancy is different
6. You will feel instantly older...especially when tailgating for a college football game next to people doing keg stands and playing flippy cup and beer pong.
7. Your boobs grow over  night.
8. Granny Panties are suddenly fan-friggin-tastic
9. Despite popular opinion, people are NOT always nicer to pregnant ladies.
#13
10. Take advantage of every "Expecting Mothers" parking spot the second you discover you're pregnant.
11. Your husbands life just keeps on going just as it always had.....until your baby makes his/her arrival I assume
12. I'm the best designated driver in the world.
13. I think 5 of the lbs I gained is in my face.
14. Shaving my legs and tying my shoes are things I take for granted.
15. My fuse is shorter than ever.
16. I was never able to truely grasp the miracle that was happening to me.
17. I have a new appreciation for my Mother.
#20
18. The bath tub is my best friend.
19. Pregnancy Blogs are my guilty pleasure.
20. Nothing is cuter than a newborn pair of jeans or shoes.
21. Babies need a lot of STUFF.
22. Friendship takes on a whole new meaning...something about the people you love already loving your baby brings you even closer.
23. I am overwhelmed at the generosity of the people in my life.
24. My hands looks like french toast squares with sausages coming out of them.
25. Swollen Ankles aka Swankles are not hot.
26. You will never forget the first time you see him/her on that screen....and furthermore.....I will never forget the look on Nicks face when they showed us the Frank and Beans.
27. Do not get a brand new hair cut/style while pregnant (I did not do this but was warned by several Mommies that this is a NO NO)
28. There will always be someone who hates the name you pick....good thing it's not their name:)
29. I watch entirely too many episodes of "The Baby Story"- and cry every time.
30. I cannot wait to see his little face....but I am equally as anxious to see Nick with him the first time.
#30

I have this weird sense that I am part of something so BIG and so life changing. Probably because I am. I love Nick more now than ever and cannot believe that in 5 years we've gone from a couple of kids playing basketball to the "Larsons" and soon we will be someones Mom and Dad. Truth be told, I feel like a swollen whale who either got my face punched in or who hasn't slept in days, I have never felt so unnatractive in my entire life, and it took me 30 painful minutes to get my wedding ring off my sausage finger last weekend (currently wearing a fake one)......but I would go through all of this all over again. Maybe tomorrow...maybe next week...maybe in 3 weeks.....sometime very soon we are going to meet this little 8 lbs 20 inch person who will not have the slightest clue how loved they are.

Born and raised a Cub fan but with a husband and Grandpa (R.I.P.) who are DIE HARD Cardinals fans I have to say that this was the most exciting series ever! Watching my  husband jump on our furniture and scream like he's won the lottery makes me smile ear to ear at his inner child.  What perfect timing for Nick who gets to be a Daddy just a few days or weeks after his favorite team in the world won the World SEries...just as they did 29 years ago right before he was born! Way to Go Cardinals:)

38 WEEK Appointment......... quick recap......head down.....1 cm dilated....75% effaced. Getting checked this time was NOT FUN and Nick was with me:)  His heart rate was 147 which Doc said is great as they like to see it between 120 and 160 bpm. Next Check up is Monday, November 7th. Doctor predicted I will go right around my due date but said to be prepared starting now......better get that hospital bag packed huh!?!? :) I think tomorrow when it's officially NOVEMBER I will start to really have some anxiety. How is it already November!?!?

No big deal...he's just the size of a WATERMELLON!

Today I am 37 weeks 2 Days pregnant, am 93% done with this pregnancy and have 19 days until our due date! Saturday I was pretty uncomfortable and got a little nervous but I think I was just having some serious Braxton Hicks Contractions. Appointment today went well...she's not checking me again until next week so I won't know if we're getting somewhere or not!

Weight Gain: No Change..still up 27 lbs. Doc said I might gain a few more if anything as weight gain usually slows or stops at this stage in pregnancy. I wanted to gain 30-35 lbs for breastfeeding purposes so hoping I can gain those last 3. And then of course I will wake up after 2 weeks and it will all have magically melted off;)
Heart Rate: 135-140 bpm
Measuring: 35 cm which she said is pretty typical as babies tend to settle farther back in the last few weeks.
Position: Head Down YAAA!

Can we just also discuss the fact that this dude is now the size of a flipping WATERMELLON. How on earth is that even humanly possible?!?! Maybe my swollen hands and feet, aching back, and whole bunch of other stuff I'll keep to myself doesn't seem so outrageous when I see a picture of a giant Watermellon and realize I'm toting that around with me everywhere I go. And I'd also like to point out that I can't place that watermellon in the most comfortable spot at any given time...he kind of rolls and floats and places himself wherever he sees fit, when he sees fit. So, when that happens to be right on top of my bladder and I find myself making my way to the bathroom for the 30th time that day, I have to remind myself that I might be carrying the watermellon...but the poor rascal has almost nowhere to go. Talk about needing a good stretch!! For those of you who are ambitious....go ahead and climb into a cooler or suit case in the fetal position and stay there for just an hour. Let me know how that goes.

Got some more cleaning done this past weekend and got the car seat that was sitting in our living room into the car:) So weird driving around with this thing in our back seat!?!? Wasn't I just driving my teal beretta to WHS with my basketball shoes, History Books, and fast food wrappers in the back? Now I have a car seat!!
Cannot believe how close this is getting! I nearly had an anxiety attack when she said "We will probably see you next week but baby may decide to come before then you never know".....WhAT!?!?

Also...anyone who knows me knows how much I live for the Holidays. Thanksgiving into Christmas into the New Year is my absolute favorite favorite time. I love decorating, cooking, eating, giving presents, snow (only during this short time span FYI), family, friends, the fire place, Church, all the good TV and movies, and music. SO needless to say...the thought of being home with our new little one for ALL THREE (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years) is almost too much to handle. I love that I can decorate the house during the day while hanging out with our little buddy...and bake cookies....and watch as many Christmas movies and television that I want. I am ELATED at the timing of all of this and might just have to have all our babies at the same time so I can do this with all of them.

Also...Justin Biebers Christmas CD comes out on November 1st. I've had the luxury to hear a few early released songs and I'm not kidding when I say it's up there with N'Syncs Christmas CD (a classic no doubt). I don't care how ridiculous I sound. I have Bieber Fever and I don't care who knows it. So, it would be in your best interest if come November 1st...you find your way to the nearest Walmart, Target, Best Buy etc and pick this up. I promise it will be worth it.

BRING ON BABY LARSON...BRING ON THANKSGIVING...BRING ON CHRISTMAS...BRING ON 2012....best days of my life are soon approaching! :)

37 Weeks

37 Weeks! (well tomorrow anyway)

How far along? 36 Weeks 6 days....tomorrow I will be 37 weeks!

Total weight gain/loss: Up 27 lbs...on track to gain 30 at the most which I am more than happy with!

Stretch marks? Safe in this department so far! I have had moments where I think I spot one but so far so good. I have heard sometimes they come on late so I'm not in the clear yet!
Sleep:  Most nights I wake up at least once now. However I do not go to the bathroom one time in the middle of the night. So strange.
Best moment this week: Will be tomorrow when I'm officially FULL TERM and it's now up to this little guy when he wants to come. ALSO...one of my dearest friends Ashley Ernst sent me chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate covered pretzels to my work this past week with the sweetest card inside counting down the weeks! Made my day (and baby was happy too)...it tasted incredible:) Strange to think that 22 years ago we were exchanging candy on snack day in Mrs. Nelsons kindergarton class...she's an incredible person and friend that one!
Movement: Lots and lots and lots. Different movement then before as he's clearly ran out of room..but lots of rolling around in there.
Food cravings: Sweets!
Maternity clothes? I think through this whole pregnancy I bought like 5 "maternity" things...no way am I getting anything new now!
Gender: BOY!!!!
Labor Signs: I'm not really sure. I am feeling lower pressure and have experienced some Braxton Hicks contractions. But my appointment last Monday showed no progress so far. My next appoitment is this coming Monday and Nick is meeting me...I'm hoping he brings good luck!
Belly Button in or out? Pretty much in...but definitely not my old bely button
What I miss: PUtting my shoes and socks on like a normal person...."Squeezing" between any two places...my old skin...Blue Moon...skinny jeans.
What I am looking forward to: Meeting our baby.

We had our maternity photo session yesterday and it was hysterical. It was freezing cold and the wind was blowing all over the place. Nick hates getting his picture taken anyway so this just made it all the more hilarious. Nicks nose was running and red like rudolph...my eyes were watering so if I look super emotional in the pictures that's why! We started at this cute ice cream shop downtown and got an ice cream cone. We then took some in an alley and ended up on this bridge which oddly enough was one of the locations for my senior pictures as well..we've come FULL CIRCLE! Here is a sample picture that the amazing photographer Tara put on her facebook page as a "sneak peek." shaephotos.com is her webiste and she takes great pictures! When Baby Larson is just 4 or 5 days old she's taking his newborn photos as well!

36 Weeks 5 Days

I can't wait to see the rest of them. She will be putting a preview on her website and then sending us the code to see all the prints.
In other news...the incredible people I work with decorated my desk in baby shower stuff....and made me a cake that matches the crib bedding! (See pic below of cake and bedding...amazing right!??!)
Cake made by Kelly Whipple :)

Baby Larsons Bedding

Later in the afternoon they had an office shower for me and I nearly busted out in tears when I saw that they got Nick, baby and I the pack n play we registered for. I was not expecting that at all and am just so grateful for not only this new job but mostly for the people! We had cake and ice cream and now baby Larson has his pack n play which he will sleep in for the first few weeks when we get home from the hospital! I still can not get over how overwhelmed I am at the generosity everyone has shown. It's the most AWESOME feeling and one I never feel I adequately express my thanks for! UFG ESOLUTIONS is the best!
Side note: Please pray for the Saint Louis Cardinals for my husband Nick. Other than my Dad, I have never in my life met a bigger baseball fan. Nick loves the Cardinals as much as he loves me I'm convinced haha. It's also kind of neat because in 1982, Nicks Dad welcomed his first son (Nick) just weeks after the Saint Louis Cardinals won the World Series. Now 29 years later, the Cardinals are just a few wins away from being World Series Champsions just as Nick is just a few weeks away from welcoming his first born son. I know I watch entirely too much Drama TV...but HOW COOL IS that!?!? I really hope they are able to pull it off!

One year ago at this time I was just a few weeks from becoming Nick's wife...now I'm a few weeks away from being someone's Mother. In just a years time I got an incredible husband, a new incredible job, and am about to have a little boy. I cannot say enough Prayers to show even 1% of my thanks!

Nursery pictures to come!!

kEgs & diAperS...AnOThEr shOWeR..& 36 WeEkS

36 1/2 Weeks...in our beautiful work bathroom:)

Kegs and Diapers was a huge success (aside from the fact the Hawkeyes lost which put us all in a bad mood for like 2.7 minutes). It was absolutely beautiful outside, so many people came, and there was tons of food! We were there from 12 pm until 11 pm and I was EXAHUSTED afterwards. It was good to see so many people that we hadn't seen in a while and the ones we had! The keg only had a VERY little bit left in it and Nick and I got lots of diapers. It was a great day:

I had my second and final shower on October 9th:). I got home afterwards with all the gifts from both the showers and just started crying with how overwhelmed and thankful I was. I feel so undeserving somehow but am so humbled at the generosity. This shower were all the theatre/Follies gals that either my Mom has met over the last 20 or so years or I have doing shows, musicals etc. It was also my Mom's closest girlfriends and work friends. The whole experience also, yet again, makes me realize how amazing of a person my Mother is. Most of those people were there because of the friend she has been, so they therefore met my sister and I and grew to love us too through her. The food was amazing, the cake was SUPER adorable (see pic below), and Nick and I and baby received SO many wonderful things. We got our travel system, elephant humidifier, boppy pillow, high chair, little Sperry shoes, diaper pail, outfits, closet organizers, his bouncer for when he's older, floor activity mat...gosh I know I'm forgetting something. The only BIG item that we have left is the pack n play...which I saw on our registry has just been marked down $20..so sometime in the next month need to get that. What a great weekend!!:
The amazing Cake...so cute!

36 weeks pregnant36 Weeks...4 Days Pregnant...just 24 days to go! Had my 36 week appointment on Monday and it went well:). I'm now onto weekly appointments and in just 3 days I will be FULL TERM! Then it's just up to this little guy to come when he's good and ready! I'm so excited to see his face. The only thing I've been dealing with lately is a serious case of pregnancy carpal tunnel sydrome! WOWZA. It wakes me up in the middle of the night and it's constant throughout the day. Nothing I can do about it really but try to sleep with my hands above my head keep my hands moving to get the blood flowing. Extremely painful and uncomfortable but again..I've had an easy easy pregnancy so I hate complaining. I also have Braxton Hicks about every day.

Weight Gain: 27 lbs....on pace for 30 :):) Pretty happy about that.
Heart Rate: 155-156....active little guy!
Labor Signs: None...she checked me and so far no progress. Go back this coming Monday so we shall see if any progress has been made.

She said I'm still measuring small, but baby is measuring perfectly based on the u/s so nothing to worry about. She talked about wanting me to go into labor on my own but if I am a week over we will start talking about induction. I really am hoping that my body goes on it's own and he comes when he is ready! I did have an amazing pregnancy massage and am going back on November 8th as they said they can concentrate on certain presure points to possibly jump start labor!!

Also, Nicks Mom, his sister Whit, Brother and neices all got their tickets to come on November 18th! They may or may not be here for the actual arrival depending on when he decides it's time to come, but they will be here pretty close regardless so this baby will have a lot of love and family around :) Very excited!

Nick and I went to the Iowa vs Northwestern night game this past weekend! It was so much fun and we had fabulous seats thanks to my Mom and Step Dad Gary. There was this awesome thing before the game where everyone had a card that they had to hold up and it made an American Flag....I took picutres so you can see how amazing it was. Then we flipped the cards and it spelled out "America Needs Farmers":

36 1/2 week belly pic updated in Expanding Belly section. Will update nursery pics in a few days. Just need to hang the valences, get an orange rug, and hang maternity photos once we get them back (our session is tomorrow afternoon).

Where to begin......

Gosh I feel like I have so much to cover. Went to Florida for my cousins wedding (which was absolutely beautiful!), have made HUGE progress on the nursery, bought a car, hit the 34 week mark, had an AMAZING baby shower, had my appointment, and had to have an ultrasound because they thought I was measuring small.
I'll start with Florida. Won't really say too much except for that I desperately wished Nick could have gone, and thorougly enjoyed the long weekend away...however my swankles aka swollen ankles were non stop in that humidity. My Dad's neice is the one who got married and my cousin closest in age to me (5 1/2 months apart). My parents, divorced since 1992, are still close friends and my Mom is still a part of the family so she was invited too. So..my Dad, Mom, Step Mom and I headed to Florida. Meghann (my cousin) was a gorgeous bride and I am so happy for her and Eric! Here are a few pictures:

Mom, Step Mom and Dad:)

Next up: Nursery. Yaaa for getting the crib together, the cubical orgnizer thing, and finally finished painting the dresser and getting that in the room. Here are some updated pictures of the progress...still a few things to add...rug, lamp, his name above the crib, and we ordered the glider which should be here in the next week. But slowly but surely coming together:

Dresser is primed and painting has started

Dresser Knobs are done!

First coat done...

Oh and we got a new car! Traded in the little Cobalt for a family/baby friendly vehicle. We love it and got incredible service from Pat McGrath Chevyland...super happy with the purchase. Don't have a picture at the moment but will eventually :)

Baby Shower - my goodness I can't even exlain to you how thankful I am and how wonderful the baby shower was. I was so appreciative for everyone who came and for the hostesses who put it on. It was the most gorgeous fall day and such a humbling day for me. People are incredibly generous..we got so many cute clothes and neccessities for this spoiled little baby boy. Naturally I got home and put everythign in it's "place" and put together the things that needed some assembly.

My sister Ashley and I

Pregnant Besties...26 weeks and 34 weeks

Mama June and I

My nephew Brayden helping me open gifts
And finally my 34 week appointment turned Ultrasound. Went to my appointment today and was told I was measuring small. Two weeks ago I measured 32 at 32 weeks which is right on track. This appointment I measured 31 at 34 weeks. Not sure how I could have dropped down but whatever. So they wanted to get me back in for an ultrasound. They had something open that day so I went back later in the afternoon. Let me tell you that those 3 1/2 hours between appointments I became familiar with the term "a mothers worry"...and I really wish there was a way to make it disappear for all eternity. What a terrible feeling. I kept thinking that the good news was I got to see my little buddy again, confirm he was a boy and check to make sure he was as healthy as could be. Well GREAT news...everything was completely normal. I am 34 weeks 2 days and he measured at 34 weeks 1 day and is 5.1 lbs according to the ultrasound tech. Heart rate was 145 to 150 and I had them 100% CONFIRM that this is a little boy..which believe me HE WAS :) He's also head down which I hope he stays that way!  He is the spitting image of his father. Got some pictures which made my day:)

34 Weeks ...a short update

Size: Depends on what book you're reading. But it looks like he's anywhere from 4-5 lbs (5.1 I guess!) and 17-20 inches long. He's pretty much full grown :)

Cravings: Cupcakes and bagels :)

Weight: Gained 1.5 more lbs at my last appointment. So I'm up around 23 1/2 lbs.

Heart Beat: 145 :) Love this sound.

Milestones: Hmmm...well it's October so I can now say I'm having a baby "NEXT MONTH"

Symptoms: Legs Cramps...literally wake up in the morning when I stretch and my toes gets stuck pointing forward and I have to reach down to pull them back..leaving them incredibly sore the rest of the day. Otherwise it's easy breezy.
